Kaeding First Ever in Tri-State to Pass Fitness Boards

Boone County, KY—June 1, 2006. Keri Kaeding  has become the first personal trainer in the Greater
Cincinnati area to pass the inaugural Personal Fitness Trainer exams established by the National Board of
Fitness Examiners (NBFE).  Kaeding is one of only a handful of Board-registered Personal Fitness Trainers
across the nation.

By taking and passing the board exam voluntarily, Kaeding is ahead of the game.  : Although licenses for
personal trainers are not yet required, recent media attention has stressed the need for nationwide standards
of practice in the fitness industry.  The NBFE was created to answer this need and prepare professionals as
state legislatures begin the discussion of licensing fitness profession.  NBFE president, Dr. Sal Arria explains,

This is the first time in the history of the fitness industry that we will have national standards for personal
trainers, developed by the industry, for the industry to protect the public. Until now, anyone could call
themselves a personal trainer. This brings a level of competency assurance to the public; simply ask your
trainer if they passed the national boards. (
